Correspondence, 1961-1966 : [with Howard Gossage].

Many of the letters in the collection concern Steinbeck's feelings about Land Rovers, for Gossage handled Rover's advertising account, and ways to improve travel vans. These recommendations had apparently occurred to Steinbeck as a result of his own travels. (The death of Charley is noted in the correspondence.) Steinbeck discusses other subjects, including his pleasure in driving by himself out of the way of civilization, as well as comments on politics, biographical matters, and in effect the military draft.

31 letters and postcards (72 3/4 p. : 64 3/4 p. of foolscap and 8 p. on cards) of Steinbeck, and copies of 3 letters to Steinbeck from Gossage (14 1/2 p.)
